Volvo Partners With Clear Channel Katz Advantage to Launch National `Pirates of the Caribbean 2' Radio Campaign and Promotion
-- Pirate Treasure Chest Theme Drives Traffic to Dealers via On-Air and On-Line Sweepstakes
Volvo Cars of North America teamed with Clear Channel KatzAdvantage (CCKA) to launch the radio campaign in support of the Volvoglobal sponsorship of the summer film release, Disney's "Pirates ofthe Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." The national radio campaign will airbeginning on July 17th in 32 top markets on 168 Clear Channel and KatzRadio Group stations handled by Clear Channel Katz Advantage.
The campaign and promotional theme reflects the blockbuster'sPirate Treasure Theme in which a treasure chest full of "Pirate Booty"is placed in each Volvo dealership in the U.S.
According to Linda Gangeri, Manager, National Advertising Volvo ofNorth America, "Our goal is to drive traffic to our dealer locationsduring the summer months in a family-friendly, fun way. Theassociation with the Pirates title has generated tremendous awarenessfor our brand. We are extremely pleased with the concepts provided tous by CCKA. They took the pirate theme and created a radio promotionfor us that will drive consumer traffic during our summer selldownperiod."
According to Bonnie Press, President of CCKA, "This program is agreat example of an advertiser using all assets of radio. Not onlywill consumers hear about the sweepstakes on the air, they'll also beable to engage with familiar on-air personalities at the dealershipsand participate online."
The centerpiece of the campaign is the Volvo Pirates TreasureSweepstakes in which visitors to Volvo dealer locations may select atreasure coin to be entered into the sweepstakes atwww.volvocarstreasure.com. Over 30,000 prizes will be awardedincluding a Grand Prize trip for four on a secret tropical treasurehunt; home entertainment systems; Zizzle's "Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man's Chest" prize package; Kodak digital cameras; download codesfor legally "Pirated Music."
